Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Theodore Geisel – better known to the world as Dr. Seuss – would have turned 111 on March 2.

From “The Cat in the Hat” to “Green Eggs and Ham,” Seuss is the father of countless beloved children’s books (44 to be exact). His silly stories, playful characters and warm-hearted rhymes truly touched us all. To honor his legacy, the National Education Association adopted his birthday as the annual date for Read Across America Day.

So to celebrate the light, laughter and love that he brought to people everywhere – big and small – here are a few of our favorite Dr. Seuss quotes:

“Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living; it’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope.”

“Because, after all, a person’s a person, no matter how small.” – Horton Hears a Who!

“UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” – The Lorax

“So… Be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray or Mordecai Ale Van Allen O’Shea, You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So… Get on your way.” – Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
