Weird Timing: Chick-Fil-A Issues "Unrelated" Recall of Jim Henson Kid's Meal Toys
Last week, the Jim Henson Company said they were severing ties with Chick-fil-A because of the restaurant chain's stance opposing gay marriage.
The company announced via Facebook they would not engage in future partnerships, and they would donate the proceeds from the current kid's meal toy partnership - slated to run through August 18 - to GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation).
And now, Chick-fil-A has announced a voluntary recall of all Jim Henson's Creature Shop Puppet Kids Meal toys "due to a possible safety issue."
What's the big safety concern? As per a photo that was snapped at a Chick-fil-A in a mall in Texas, the toys have been recalled because "there have been some reports of children getting their fingers stuck in the holes of the puppets."
Wow. What a weird coincidence!
While the people in charge at Chick-fil-A told the Consumerist that the "the two issues are unrelated," the timing does seem highly suspect. Especially since there have no ben any actual reports of injuries, and the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) has no record of a recall on file.
What do you think? Is the recall legit or is this just Chick-fil-A's way of retaliating for the break-up?
