BE AS BIG AND BRIGHT AS YOU CAN BE !!!!!

Last night I was out to dinner with a girlfriend and her 3 1/2 year old daughter. The little girl was talking when the waitress came over and told her,” SHHHHHHH … You need to be small in here”. I loved the little girls response, “ I CAN’T BE SMALL”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I immediately gave her a high five  and said; “ that’s right Harper B NEVER make yourself small for anyone!!!

How many times in your life have you played your self down because you thought who you were was too much and you wouldn’t be liked or accepted?

Recently in my life coaching practice this has come up for a lot of the women I work with.

Can you remember a time in your life when you thought you were too much and someone was threatened, making you feel bad about yourself?  So you began to shut down and shrink?  You were probably too young to understand their intimidation and insecurity they were feeling by being around all your wonderfulness. It had nothing to do with you and everything to do with them. That who you were just happened to trigger a lack of confidence in them. I am an extremely social person and can definitely hold my own and work a room. Years ago I was dating a guy who would walk into a room and light it up. I loved it!! Unfortunately he didn’t like that I did too. He told me when we were out one night that he thought I was socially awkward and that I lacked social skills. Now anyone who knows me happens to know that’s not true but at the time (due to low self – esteem) I believed him so I dimmed my light so he wasn’t threatened and then he could shine brighter. After years and years of therapy and working on myself I can honestly say, that will never happen again!!! 

I love this quote by Dr Seuss “ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

When you put your whole fabulous self out there in the world the right people will begin to show up in your life, will get you, like you, except, suport and applauded you and the others like Dr Seuss says, don’t matter!!

NEVER MAKE YOURSELF SMALL FOR ANYONE!!! WATCH OUT FOR PEOPLE WHO TRY TO SQUASH YOUR LIGHT!! SPEND TIME WITH THOSE WHO SUPPORT YOU!!  NOW GO OUT THERE AND SHINE BIG AND BRIGHT IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!  THE WORLD NEEDS YOUR LIGHT!!!!!!
