Nanny Stabbed Herself in Front of Marina Krim
It's every parent's nightmare - the person you trust to care for your children puts them in harm's way.
For the Krim family, that nightmare has become a reality.
On Thursday night, Marina Krim came home to find her 2-year-old son Leo and 6-year-old daughter Lucia stabbed to death, allegedly by their nanny. She discovered their bodies in a blood-spattered bathtub in the family's luxury Upper West Side apartment.
According to CNN, Marina had left her kids with the nanny, Yoselyn Ortega, to take her third child, 3-year-old Nessie, to a swim lesson. She planned to meet Yoselyn (known as "Josie") at a dance class for the 6-year-old around 5:30 p.m. (Their father, Kevin Krim, was out of town on business at the time).
When they didn't show up, Marina returned home and found all the lights off. She went down to the lobby and asked a doorman whether he had seen her two other children leave with the nanny; he had not.
She went back upstairs, and that's when neighbors heard a scream.
"We believe now that the nanny began to stab herself as the woman [Marina] entered the room," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told reporters today.

Ortega, 50, remains hospitalized for her injuries, which include a broken vertebrae and a deep gash to her throat. Her motive and mental state are still a mystery.
Kelly added that she had worked for the Krims for two years, following a referral from a previous employer, and had "no history that we're aware of" with troubling incidents dealing with the family.
"We're just grieving. Worst nightmare anyone could ever imagine," grandmother Karen Krim told reporters. "We don't have a clue what set her off."
