There’s Going to be a “Boy Meets World” Spinoff… So Where’s the Original Cast Now?

Remember TGIF?

Of course you do. Who could forget quality programming like Step by Step (why did creepy older cousin Cody live in their driveway in his van?) and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

But best of all was that sweet sweet half hour every Friday known as Boy Meets World.

The show followed our favorite “Brillo head” Cory Matthews as he navigated the treacherous hallways of middle school, high school and beyond.

Cory was accompanied by his uber-cute longtime best friend Shawn Hunter, his nemesis turned girlfriend Topanga Lawrence and their beloved teacher Mr. Feeny – who somehow had the same students in his class EVERY SINGLE YEAR and even followed them to college…

Boy Meets World lasted for seven wonderful seasons, culminating in the happily married Cory and Topanga moving to New York City to start a new chapter in their lives.

And now there’s going to be a spinoff!

Yes. It’s true. It’s really really happening.

Titled “Girl Meets World,” the show (which is in the works over at The Disney Channel) will reportedly focus on Cory and Topanga’s tween daughter.

Time to break out my old “Tiger Beat” posters of the cast.

But in the meantime, check out what the cast of the original series has been up to:

Ben Savage (Cory Matthews)

Just look at that hair!

Savage took a few years off from acting and went to college at Stanford University for political science. As part of his studies, he interned for Senator Arlen Specter. Most recently he made guest appearances on Chuck, Without a Trace and Bones.

Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter)

Shawn had quite a way with the ladies…

Strong did voice work for Disney’s animated series Kim Possible and had appearances on The Practice and Veronica Mars.  He starred in the horror flick “Cabin Fever” and wrote and directed the short film “Irish Twins” with his brother, Shiloh. He graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University in 2004.

Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence)

Is that champagne part of the NutriSystem diet?

In the years following the series, Fishel could be seen as the spokesperson for NutriSystem – as the result of her dramatic weight loss using the diet. She dated co-star Ben Savage in real life as well as Lance Bass (shocker – that did not work out.) In a 2010 interview, Fishel announced that she was accepted and planned to attend California State University, Fullerton to complete her degree in psychology.

William Daniels (Mr. Feeny)

Everything we ever needed to know in life, we learned from Mr. Feeny.

Did you know that Mr. Feeny was the voice of KITT in Knight Rider? True story. Since the end of BMW, he has appeared on Boston Legal, The Closer and has had a recurring guest role on this season of Grey/s Anatomy. Oh, and he was also the president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1999 to 2001. All in a day’s work for our favorite teacher.

Will Friedle (Eric Matthews)

He should rethink that facial hair.

Friedle has done a bunch of voice work; he was Batman in “Batman Beyond,” Ron Stoppable in “Kim Possible,” and most recently was Lion-O on “Thundercats.” He was also the voice of Randy the Sheep in The Penguins of Madagascar.

Lily Nicksay (Morgan Matthews)

Wow – little Lily is all grown up.

In addition to studying at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, Nicksay appeared on Judging Amy and 8 Simple Rules. As for the spinoff – she wants in! “I’d love to talk [to Disney] about being a part of it,” the now 24-year-old actress told TMZ.

Lee Norris (Stuart Minkus)

Norris went on to star as Marvin “Mourth” McFadden on the long-running teen drama One Tree Hill. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 2004.

Did you watch Boy Meets World? Will you (or your kids) watch the spinoff?
