Questionable Parenting Moves: Hiring “Really Skinny” Person to Shame Picky Eaters

If you have a picky eater in your family, you know exactly how frustrating dinner table battles can be.

Moms and dads get increasingly desperate when their little angels refuse to eat anything but peanut butter or grilled cheese. Parents have been known to resort to bribery, blackmail and even tears.

But sometimes it can go a bit too far….

In an anonymous Craigslist ad posted in Scottsdale, Arizona, one parent put out an open call for a “really really skinny person” to help teach their kids that there are starving people in the world:

“I would like to force them to throw away the food from their unfinished plates in front of someone who is really really skinny who will act hungry.”

“I’d love for you to get into the role. Maybe a wide-eyed whimper and extension of an emancipated claw/hand as the meatloaf slides into the trash can. Must be able to pull off dejected as you sulk away.”

Wow. Just, wow.

But wait… there’s more!

“I’d love to avoid meth skinny for obvious reasons. Also, actual hunger skinny because that meatloaf is staying in the trash. Also would like to avoid some sort of body-image-malfunction skinny because my daughter is so impressionable right now. My #1 choice would be parasite skinny, but I know chances of finding that are slim.”

Hmm. There has to be a better way to deal with picky eating habits, rather than terrorizing your child with a bizarre message about food and weight.  Honestly, we’re really REALLY hoping this is a joke.

What do you think?
