Lowe’s Recalls 11 Million Blinds After Near Strangulations

Lowe's is recalling approximately 11 million Roman shades and roll-up blinds after reports of two children who were nearly strangled by the exposed cords in the back of the shades, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

This recall comes almost a year after 50 million blinds were recalled. Lowe's is recalling about 6 million Roman shades and 5 million roll-up blinds.

The Roman shades were sold at Lowe’s stores from least 1999 through 2010 and between 1999 and 2005 for the roll-up blinds. The products retailed for between $10 and $1,800.

CPSC officials said consumers should stop using the recalled Roman shades and roll-up blinds immediately and contact the Window Covering Safety Council for free repair kits by calling (800) 506-4636 or going to www.windowcoverings.org.
