Brain Development

The most critical period of human brain development is between birth and age 5. That is why engaging with your child and introducing early learning opportunities through play is so important.
By using materials around your home, you can introduce your child to basic math, language, science, and other concepts.
I had my 4 year old grandchild over the other day. I took 3 circle shaped cookies and had him take a small bite out of one, a larger bite out of the other, and an even larger bite out of the last cookie. We looked at pictures of the phases of the moon and identified each with the cookies, (quarter moon, half moon, etc.) That night we identified the phase of the moon as we looked outside his window! This activity has become a nightly routine at home. It’s simple, fun, and introduces a simple science concept!
