Laurie Metcalf and her husband, actor Matt Roth, are splitting up after more than six years of marriage.
Roth, 47, filed for divorce on September 12th, citing irreconcilable differences, although the couple has been separated since November 2008 according to court documents obtained by E! News.
The 56-year-old actress, who is a recurring guest-star on “The Big Bang Theory” as Sheldon’s mother, is best known for her role as Jackie on the hit sitcom “Roseanne,” which ran for nine seasons in the late 80s and early 90s. The couple met on the set of the show, when Roth landed the role of Fisher, the abusive boyfriend of Metcalf’s character.
They were married in 2005 and have three children together – Will, 17, Donovan, 11, and Mae, 6. Roth has requested joint physical and legal custody of the children.
Metcalf was previously married to Steppenwolf Theatre Company founder Jerry Perry.
