Hillary Clinton’s Mother Dies At 92

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s mother, Dorothy Howell Rodham, passed away Tuesday in Washington after an illness. She was 92.

A statement from the Clintons said Rodham died shortly after midnight, surrounded by her family. Hillary Clinton had canceled a scheduled trip to Britain and Turkey to be by her mother’s side.

Although Dorothy Rodham stayed largely out of the spotlight, she made an exception in 2008 when she helped her daughter by making occasional campaign appearances.

According to the family statement, she was a “warm, generous and strong woman; an intellectual; a woman who told a great joke and always got the joke; an extraordinary friend and, most of all, a loving wife, mother and grandmother.”
