It’s official: Billy Crystal will be hosting the 2012 Academy Awards.
“Am doing the Oscars so the young woman in the pharmacy will stop asking my name when I pick up my prescriptions. Looking forward to the show,” Crystal tweeted today.
The 63-year-old actor is taking over for Eddie Murphy, who dropped out as the host of the show on Tuesday following the exit of producer Brett Ratner.
He’s a seasoned pro at this job; Crystal has already hosted the Academy Awards nine times. This year, the Oscars will be broadcast live on Feb. 26 from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
