After a little more than a year of marriage, Russell Brand and Katy Perry are calling it quits.
The 36-year-old British comedian filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Friday, citing irreconcilable differences.
“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage,” he said in a statement. “I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
The couple began dating in 2009 and Brand popped the question to the pop star a few months later. They were married in October of last year in an extravagant ceremony in India.
Perry, 27, is known for hit songs “I Kissed a Girl” and “Teenage Dream.”
First Ashton and Demi, now Russell and Katy. It certainly hasn’t been the best year for celebrity marriages.
