Highlights From the 2012 People’s Choice Awards

Did you watch the People’s Choice Awards?

Hosted by Kaley Cuoco, the 38th annual show kicked off the award season last night.

The big winners were Katy Perry and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2,” with Perry winning five awards and the final Potter movie winning four.

But the real highlights of the evening came from some of our favorite actors and performers. Adam Sandler’s hilarious (and surprisingly touching) acceptance speech for Favorite Comedic Movie Actor praised all the teachers of his past and Faith Hill’s performance of her new single “Come Home” was amazing.

A new addition to the show this year was the Favorite Movie Icon Award, won by Morgan Freeman. And Betty White’s celebratory standing ovation as she accepted the award for “Hot in Cleveland” nearly brought us to tears.

Other winners:

Ellen DeGeneres for Favorite Daytime TV Host
Kim Kardashian for Favorite TV Celebreality Star
Lea Michele for Favorite TV Comedy Actress
Demi Lovato for Favorite Pop Artist
Johnny Depp for Favorite Movie Actor and Favorite Animated Movie Voice
Emma Stone for Favorite Movie Actress and Favorite Comedic Movie Actress
Nathan Fillion for Favorite TV Drama Actor
Taylor Swift for Favorite Country Artist
Neil Patrick Harris for Favorite TV Comedy
“How I Met Your Mother” for Favorite Network TV Comedy
“Person of Interest” for Favorite New TV Drama
