Monday, October 25th marks the beginning of Red Ribbon Week. The week observes alcohol, drug, tobacco and violence prevention.
Red Ribbon Week started in 1985, when drug enforcement agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena was kidnapped, tortured and killed by a Mexican drug cartel. After he was murdered, citizens of Calexico, California wore red ribbons to commemorate Kiki and the work he was doing.
Wear your red ribbon this week to support drug and alcohol awareness.
