Leslie Carter Died of Apparent Drug Overdose

Leslie Carter, the sister of Nick and Aaron Carter, died of an apparent drug overdose according to a police report filed Thursday.

The 25-year-old aspiring singer was pronounced dead in upstate New York on Tuesday evening.

While an official cause of death is pending toxicology tests, the incident report obtained by ABCNews.com revealed that she was under the influence of several drugs before her death.

Her stepmother, Ginger Carter, told police that Leslie had a long history of mental illness and was on medication for depression.

On the morning she died, Ginger said that Leslie seemed depressed and fell down in the shower. Ginger helped her lie down and periodically checked on her. Later in the afternoon, she discovered that Leslie was not breathing and called 911.

The police report says that medication to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and anxiety, as well as a muscle relaxant, were found nearby.

According to ABCNews.com, Carter will be buried in western New York next week. She leaves behind her husband of three years, Mike Ashton, and 10-month-old daughter Allysa Jane.
