Former "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi is getting a new TV show. She will be heading a panel of judges on "Going Platinum", a competition for singer-songwriters. Singer Jewel will be the host and mentor the contestants.
On the show, which will premiere on Bravo next year, contestants will compete for $100,000, a publishing deal with Sony and a record contract with RCA/Jive. Production is currently underway in Los Angeles.
No wonder Kara left "American Idol" last September — she was offered her own show!
"Hit songs are the backbone of the music industry, and as a publisher, nothing excites me more than finding new songwriting talent," Kara said in a statement. "I am happy to be a part of a show that helps up and coming songwriters pursue their dreams, while giving the public a look into the creative process."
