Former three-time world surfing champion Andy Irons has died. The 32-year-old was found dead in a hotel room in Dallas, TX where he was on a layover en route to his home in Kauai.
An autopsy will be performed next week to find the cause of death.
Andy was returning from Puerto Rico, where he was supposed to compete in the 2010 Rip Curl Pro Search. He didn't show up to the competition, and Rip Curl officials said it was due to an illness he contracted during an event abroad.
Billabong posted a tribute page on its website, calling Andy one of the "greatest surfers of our time."
Andy's wife, Lyndie, is pregnant and scheduled to give birth to their first child in December.
Our hearts go out to Andy's family and friends.
