Mayim Bialik Injured in Car Accident [UPDATED]

Mayim Bialik suffered serious injuries in a car accident on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

The “Big Bang Theory” actress was driving alone when her white Volvo was stuck in the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and La Brea by another car.

The other vehicle was driven by three tourists from Chile, LAPD Sgt. Monte Houze told PEOPLE.  They were not cited or detained in connection with the accident.

“From what I was told, there was a lot of blood at the scene,” Houze said.

TMZ reported that Bialik sustained major damage to her left hand and “her finger was almost completely severed … it was just hanging there.”

Luckily, it looks like the former “Blossom” star isn’t going to lose the digit. Her husband – Michael Stone – tweeted on her behalf:

“(husband typing) In pain but will keep all my fingers. If u wanna see pre accident me watch The Soup tonight lol.”

Thank goodness!

The 36-year-old actress and her husband have two sons – Miles, 6, and Frederick, 4 – and like any working mom, we’re sure she already has her hands full!
