Jessica Simpson’s Parents File for Divorce

After 34 years of marriage, pop-star parents Tina and Joe Simpson are filing for divorce.

“It is an amicable split and there is no third party involved,” the couple’s rep told People.

“Any other related allegations are completely false. The family appreciates your respect for their privacy at this time.”

The “related allegations” could refer to a story published in the National Enquirer today claiming that Joe Simpson is gay and recently came out to his family.

Tina, 52, filed for divorce back in September claiming the marriage had “become insupportable because of discord or conflict in personalities,” according to court documents.

She requested that the couple divide up their estate and keep her separate properties out of the agreement.

In Joe’s response to his wife’s divorce petition, he requests Tina not get anything in the split.

The couple, often seen together on their daughters’ reality shows (Newlyweds and The Ashlee Simpson Show), are parents to pop stars Jessica and Ashlee Simpson.

They also have two grandchildren, Jessica’s infant daughter Maxwell Drew and Ashlee’s three-year-old son Bronx Mowgli.

Joe (a former youth pastor and Baptist minister) is the longtime manager to both his daughters.
