Sexy Is A State of Mind

“Sexy Is A State of Mind”

Sounds easier said than done, but it’s true.

As 2011 is approaching and New Year’s resolutions are just around the corner. Why not start now? The best way to balance the stress of the holidays and the extra pounds and calories is to kick start your body into being THE BEST YOU right now!

2011 will launch my new section called OMB! Where I will post my daily eating plan, favorite healthy recipes, my best work out moves, and many tips and tricks to staying healthy.

December marked another check off my bucket list, which is something that is rewarding beyond words for me. Gracing the cover of Shape Magazine was not only an honor, but also something that’s been on my wish list for a decade. It’s about many things for me…being healthy, being my best at every age, and also knowing that a magazine like Shape inspires many people and allows me to share my views on staying fit and healthy- inside and out. It really is a state of mind, it comes from a deep place, and it doesn’t matter if you are a size 2 or a size 12. It’s about a commitment to yourself, following through, and feeling good about your lifestyle. This past year, many have asked about my diet. Well, I HATE that word! I do NOT diet; I simply eat smart and healthy, and trust me I do eat. Here is a peak into my fitness chapter from my book The Naked Mom.

I will also share some of my tips and tricks to fitness in detail in OMB, because I know it’s not easy. When it comes to staying fit we need all the help we can get- especially during the holidays.

Design a meal plan that works for you, get organized, plan, commit, and just DO IT!
I eat 5 times a day.
Protein shake in the am (recipe)
Coconut water or low fat almond milk
½ scoop whey protein powder *** OR Bill Phillips light nutrition shake
½ cup frozen mixed berries
Scoop Vitamin C Plus powder
Scoop of Vitaforce vitamin & mineral powder

My next meal 2-3 hrs later after my morning work out is nonfat yogurt

Lunch is a healthy chicken salad, or grilled salmon salad, or sushi

My next snack 3 hours later is usually a protein bar because it’s easy; my favorite one is Bill Phillips RIGHT nutrition bar- crunchy peanut
*OR an apple and a handful of almonds

At 5ish I drink an Underway every day. It’s a great appetite suppressant drink, it’s healthy, natural and loaded with fiber. It will help control your appetite so you can make better choices when you sit for dinner and not show up STARVING! It’s also hydrating and tastes great! You can also drink an Underway in the am if you need it.

Diner is always protein, fish, fillet mignon, or chicken, veggies, and salad.
Those are just some examples.

In OMB! I will be posting in detail, sharing my best delicious recipes, and logging everything I eat.

My workout routine is doable too. Like most of us, time is our enemy, and I have very little of that to devote to myself. I make sure I workout at least 4 times a week, 5 if I’m lucky. Too bad I’ve been sick and haven’t lifted a finger in 12 days!!! But, I’m obsessed with Pilates Plus. In addition, I try to do cardio 2 x a week, 45 min on the treadmill. In my Shape issue, you will find some great exercise moves you can do at home.

My biggest tip to trim your core and help you sweat off the tummy bloat and muffin tops for men and women is Baboosh Body. It’s a neoprene tummy wrap that you wear under your work out clothes against your skin. It heats you up and makes you sweat like CRAZY! I always do my cardio with it, and it really helped me get cover ready fast for Shape. I usually don’t sweat a lot, but wearing Baboosh Body changed that and maximizes every work out. It’s on sale now and you can get 2 for the price of one while the special lasts. Dad can use it too!

There’s lots more to come, but don’t wait for the New Year, start taking care of you right now! Good luck.
