It’s not the best news week for Hollywood married couples.
First Danica Patrick announced that she’s splitting from her husband of seven years, and now Mayim Bialik and husband Michael Stone are divorcing after nine years of marriage.
The 36-year-old “The Big Bang Theory” actress cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation.
“Divorce is terribly sad, painful and incomprehensible for children. It is not something we have decided lightly,” Bialik wrote on her her Kveller.com parenting blog.
The couple has two young sons together – Miles, 7, and Fred, 4. They have been married since 2003.
Bialik has been a longtime advocate for “attachment parenting,” a style of parenting that encourages near-constant physical contact with children. But she emphasized that the philosophy did not play a role in their decision to part ways.
“The hands-on style of parenting we practice played no role in the changes that led to this decision; relationships are complicated no matter what style of parenting you choose,” the former Blossom star explained.

“The main priority for us now is to make the transition to two loving homes as smooth and painless as possible. Our sons deserve parents committed to their growth and health and that’s what we are focusing on.”
