Is Kate Middleton Having a Baby Girl?

Are Will and Kate going to have a little girl?

The Duchess of Cambridge was chatting with fans at an event in England on Tuesday when she may have had a slip of the tongue that revealed the sex of her unborn child.

After a woman handed her a teddy bear, Kate reportedly replied ” Thank you, I’ll take that for my d…” and then stopped herself.

“I said to her: ‘You were going to say daughter weren’t you?’ and she said ‘No, we don’t know’,” bystander Sandra Cook told the Telegraph.

“I said, ‘Oh I think you do’, to which she said: ‘We’re not telling’,” Cook added.

The baby is the first child for Middleton and her husband Prince William, who will celebrate their second wedding anniversary next month.

If indeed it is a girl, Queen Elizabeth II has decreed that she will be called “Princess,” and referred to as Her Royal Highness. And according to the Succession the Crown Bill, which overruled centuries of royal gender discrimination, William and Kate’s firstborn will be the heir to the throne regardless of gender.

But don’t hold your breath, because we aren’t likely to find out whether it’s a girl or boy any time soon.

The British royal family has a longstanding tradition of not sharing the sex of the baby until after the birth. Instead, a note is put on the gates of Buckingham Palace to announce the child’s arrival, thus revealing the details to the world.

What’s your guess? Will the baby be a girl or a boy?
