Trend Alert: Nude Illusion

Flesh tone (or nude illusion, as Bravo’s Andy Cohen loves to call it) dresses decked out with crystal embellishments were one of the biggest red carpet trends at this year’s Academy Awards. While you probably haven’t run out to buy a floor-length, crystal-studded gown a la Halle Berry, Michelle Williams or Mandy Moore just yet, you can easily translate this trend to the real world in the form of sparkling nude accessories. Some of my favorite variations on this trend, which I’ve included images of below, are Alexander McQueen’s Swarovski crystal-encrusted clutch, Jimmy Choo’s Quinzie booties, and Sergio Rossi’s blush platforms dotted with crystals. If you’re looking for a less expensive way to add champagne sparkle to your wardrobe, try a piece of shimmery rose gold jewelry. I am currently loving the rocker-chic jewelry line LUV AJ, and her crystal necklace and crystal chunk knucklebuster ring are a great way to add rosy shimmer to your outfit. Just remember: A little bit of sparkle goes a long way, so all you need is one flashy flesh-tone accessory.
