Surviving the Storm – Indoor Activities for Stir Crazy Kids

If you live on the East Coast, chances are good that you’re stuck inside today. I’m sure everyone is going a little stir crazy.

I’m home with two very active boys and trying to keep them entertained.

Here are some ideas I have come up with to help the days to go by without the kids lapsing into complete boredom (which leads to tantrums, and whining that no amount of wine can deal with).

Dress Up

We have played this a lot, and it gave me some time to organize my closet while the kids were picking out their costumes. Pick a theme, super heroes, army guy, and wedding date were some of the ideas my boys came up with. Takes time putting on clothes, playing different games in the costume, and then cleaning up!

Board Games

We are finally at an age with our oldest that we can play games like Sorry, Chutes and Ladders, and even card games. The little one joins in and makes it for a fun afternoon.

Dance Party

Great way to listen to your favorite songs, and burn off some energy. I recommended doing this a few times a day. Kids love it!

Hide and Seek

Sometimes us moms need a little quite time this is the perfect game for that!  Make it fun with flashlights if you are in the dark.

Bake

Cook some yummy recipes you have wanted to try from Pinterest! Get the kids involved and make it fun. Don’t worry about the mess, plenty of time for cleaning later. Don’t have power, try some non-bake recipes.
