40 Dead in Israel Forest Fire

A massive forest fire killed at least 40 people Thursday when a bus evacuating prisoners from a nearby jail was caught in the flames.

The jail, located in Carmel hills near the city of Haifa, holds both Israelis and Palestinians.

The fire was the biggest and deadliest in Israel's history. It broke out at 11:30am and firefighters are still trying to contain it.

A drought has left many wooded areas vulnerable to brush fires in recent months.
