A Denver judge Monday sentenced convicted Ponzi schemer Sean Mueller to 40 years in prison.
Mueller lured 65 people, including former Denver Bronco player John Elway, into an investment scam that attracted approximately $71 million.
He pleaded guilty on Nov. 1 to criminal charges of fraud, theft and racketeering. Mueller preyed mostly on wealthy individuals in Denver.
The 42-year-old said in front of several of his victims in court, "I did some awful things…I am sorry."
