10 Things to Pack for a Trip to Disneyland

Planning a trip to Disneyland is an exciting experience. If you have never been, the excitement can be overwhelming. Don't forget to make a list of items you will need to bring with you to the park when planning your trip. Having the proper items with you while enjoying the park will increase your enjoyment. Without these items, you may be uncomfortable and spend more money than you planned. Buying things at Disneyland is not cheap--a small bottle of water can set you back at least three dollars--so pack carefully...continues below

Sunblock

Sunblock is essential to keeping your vacation running smoothly. A small bottle should be carried with you and applied throughout the day. Not much ruins a vacation faster than a bad sunburn.

Water

The park will allow you to bring in sealed water bottles into the park. Opened containers will need to be thrown away. Bring several bottles with you. You can refill them at the water fountains throughout the park, though the water is not the best tasting. Coolers are not allowed, though they offer lockers for a fee if you choose to bring a cooler.

Camera or Video Camera

A camera or video camera may seem like a given, but many people forget them. Have enough batteries, memory cards and film if needed to last you your trip. Carrying a useless camera around the park and missing some great moments is frustrating.

Extra Socks

Walking around in wet socks is uncomfortable. Bring an extra pair in case yours get soaked when riding a wet ride. Another option would be to bring a pair of sandals you can change into while in line for these type of rides.

Sunglasses and Hats

Every person in your group should have sunglasses and a hat. The sidewalks can be extremely bright in the sun, and the sunglasses will keep the glare down as well as protect your eyes from UV rays.

Medications

If someone in your party is on any medications, be sure to bring those with you. You may also want to bring a small container of ibuprofen or aspirin as well in case someone starts feeling ill. Make sure all medications are age-appropriate and in waterproof containers.

Sweater

Other than summertime, a sweater may be necessary as the temperatures can vary greatly and may get chilly when the sun goes down. Sweaters can also be useful when you have gotten wet and need something else to wear until your shirt has had time to dry.

Extra Cash and Credit Cards

Always have two people carrying extra cash and credit or debit cards when at the park, if possible. This is in case the main person loses a wallet. Not having access to money will severely dampen your vacation, so have a backup.

Snacks

Bringing a few small snacks will lessen the amount of money you are forced to spend on food. It is also a great way to settle kids down when standing in long lines and keep them happy. Fruit snacks are a great choice and easy to carry. Granola bars, fruit and trail mix are other great options that will provide sustaining energy without too much sugar.

Small Backpack

A small backpack will allow you to carry all of your items without worrying about them. The backpack should be comfortable on your shoulders and packed lightly so your back and shoulders don't hurt after a short time. If your items are not valuable and you bring a stroller, you may want a bag that will store easily in the stroller instead.
