Baseball

Go see the Giants play at AT&T Park. The Giants offer affordable ticket prices for a professional team. Bleacher seats cost between $12 and $17, as of 2009.

Trolleys

San Francisco has a large trolley system still in place and it is a must-do. It only costs $3.00 each way, as of 2009 (SFCableCar.com). There are also "passport" packages that you can buy so that you can use the trolleys as transportation as much as you want during your stay. A one-day passport is $9, a three-day pass is $15 and a week-long pass is just $20. This is much more inexpensive than using a cab and you get the unique San Fran experience.

Sightsee

Don't forget that sightseeing is one of your most affordable ways to have fun. For the price of transportation you can see all of what makes San Francisco great. Don't miss seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, Grace Cathedral, Fisherman's Wharf or the California Palace of the Legion of Honor.

Zoo

The San Francisco Zoo is Northern California's largest zoo, and it has over one million visitors a year and keeps more than 930 animals (SFZoo.org). Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and teens, $9; for children ages 3 to 11 and toddlers and babies get in free, as of 2009. If you are lucky enough to visit on the first Wednesday of the month, you can visit the zoo for free.

Museums

Many of San Francisco's museums offer free admission year-round, such as the Cable Car Museum, Wells Fargo History Museum, San Francisco Fire Museum, National Maritime Museum, Chinese Culture Center and North Beach Museum.

Concerts

If you visit San Francisco during the spring and summer months, you can take advantage of the free musical concerts around the city. The Golden Gate Park Band and Stern Grove offers free concerts on Sundays.

Shakespeare

If you are in the mood for drama, check out the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival (SFShakes.org). Throughout the summer, Shakespearian plays are held in parks throughout the city. Admission is free and all you need is a blanket to spread on the ground for seating.
