Cardamom, Flickr.

What other meal can be served for breakfast, lunch or dinner? Quiche can be dressed up and served at a high class dinner party or dished out at a casual brunch. The best thing about quiche is that one easy recipe is the launch pad for dozens of scrumptious variations...continues below

Baking the Basic Quiche

  1. Step 1

Take the pie crust out of the freezer or refrigerator and allow it to warm up to room temperature. If you're using an unroll-and-fill crust, place it into the pie dish before thawing.

  2. Step 2

Beat the eggs and add the rest of the ingredients.

  3. Step 3

Pour the mixture into the pie shell.

  4. Step 4

Bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes or until it is firm to the touch.

Make it Your Own

  1. Step 1

Make a Mexican quiche by adding chilies, onions, tomatoes and steak or chicken flavored with fajita seasoning. Serve with a variety of salsas and sangria.

  2. Step 2

Add olives, chopped artichoke hearts, spinach and feta cheese to make a Greek quiche.

  3. Step 3

Pack your quiche with bell peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, broccoli or green onions to get your recommended serving of vegetables.

  4. Step 4

Substitute a 12-ounce container of cottage cheese for milk or cream to pack in extra protein. It gives the quiche a light, creamy texture, too. You'll need to increase the heat to 425 degrees when using cottage cheese.

  5. Step 5

Decorate the top of your quiche with thin slices of tomato or make a pinwheel out of asparagus spears. Add bacon bits if you like.

Ingredients

  • 3 or 4 eggs

Tips

  • Place the quiche on a cookie sheet before baking. It will help heat the quiche throughout and keep the crust from getting soggy.
  • Using four eggs instead of three will give your quiche a more "scrambled eggs" texture.
