How to Tame Frizzy Hair

Frizzy hair is often a problem that individuals with dry hair, curly hair or thick hair must deal with. You are probably sick and tired of stuffing your hair into a pony tail or bun to keep the frizz down. But you can let your hair down and style it beautifully without having to worry about frizz by learning certain techniques...continues below

  1. Step 1

Use deep conditioning treatments. Sleek and manageable hair starts in the shower. Use conditioners with plenty of moisture such as Bed Head Moisture Manic Conditioner or Frizz-B-Gone Conditioner. Shampoo normally and then add the conditioner. Allow the conditioner to work into your hair for 2 to 10 minutes. Then rinse it out completely. This will help soften and add moisture to your frizzy hair, making it tamer and sleeker.

  2. Step 2

Apply moisture block. Moisture block is a product that can be picked up at your local drug or beauty store. It blocks the moisture from leaving your hair while keeping excess moisture out. After you've washed and conditioned your hair, simply apply a quarter-sized amount to your hand and use your fingertips to spread it through your hair. Start with the ends and work your way up, scrunching with your hands.

  3. Step 3

Use a weekly hair mask. Once a week, apply a hair mask that will lock in moisture, heal damaged hair and prevent the frizz from sneaking up on you. There are a few different hair masks that you can use. Try mixing equal parts of mayonnaise, egg and olive oil and saturating your hair and scalp with it. Or you can mix equal parts of pure, unrefined Shea Butter and green tea oil. Leave it on for 30 minutes, wrapping the hair in a hair net or shower cap. Then rinse clean. The Shea butter mask may require you to shampoo the hair after applying. Learn more at Wiki how. See "Additional Resources" for link.

  4. Step 4

Use a flat iron. First, apply a moisturizer such as moisture block or a bead of regular conditioner smoothed through the hair. Separate your hair into sections and iron each one until it is smooth and flat. This will minimize the appearance of frizz and make your hair look sleek, smooth and tamed.
