As the start of a new school year draws close, teenagers across the country are hitting the mall to prep for their hallway debuts. And just like their older siblings, kids in middle school also want to dress to impress on the first day of school. Recent choices have led me to wonder if I'm walking a fine line lately between sexy and slutty. Not too long ago, my sister texted me a picture of a clothing boutique's window display showcasing mannequins with minidresses on - alongside two baby strollers. Seeing it, I squealed with delight, and thought it was a fun and long-overdue display of the "new, sexy mom"...until my sis commented on the "slutty dresses" and questioned how and why any designer would create such a contradictory scene for a storefront window.
Whoa. Reality check. As arguably appropriate as her opinion seemed, it was also strange for me to hear this from her (considering that my sister's past activities involve wearing miniskirts to church).

Weddings are the place to express your beauty, especially when you’re the bride. We want to celebrate our commitment in style- whether it’s our first trip down in the aisle or our fifth! When our mothers or grandmothers were young, a woman’s primary role was to get married and raise a family. The other options were considered less-than-ideal, to say the least. Only young, first-time brides wore traditional bridal regalia; everyone else was expected to marry with little fanfare, wearing a suit or simple dress.

I know it’s hard to imagine that in the middle of this hundred-degree weather I could possibly be thinking about fall clothing, but I am and I am OBSESSED! It all started yesterday when I walked into Michael Nussken (my favorite local boutique) to let them know I just wore all of my fabulous summer pieces on my AMAZING girl’s trip to Capri…and there it was, a rolling rack full of Isabel Marant Fall. To top it off, it just had arrived! It was like crack, and I got first dibs!
