How many times have you opened a box or bag of brown sugar, used a cup for your recipe, and then gone back a few weeks later to make a new batch of cookies only to find that your sugar is dry and clumped all together?
You have to get out a hammer and chisel just to break off a bit at a time and try to pack it into a measuring cup. It’s laborious, frustrating, and time wasting.
We recently interviewed The Sugar Mommas on their new book, www.SugarSugarRecipes.com

Kimberly Reiner and Jenna Sanz-Agero have traveled the country to find America’s best sugary recipes, and the stories behind them, for their new book, "Sugar, Sugar: Every Recipe Has A Story."
Known as the "Sugar Mommas," these two are an unlikely pair: Reiner is a fudge queen, while Sanz-Agero is a bona-fide rock star (she's the lead singer of the female rock group Vixen). But these self-proclaimed "sugar floozies" share a love for baking, tasting and sharing sweet treats!
Despite your desire to be a powerful and independent woman who doesn’t care about getting anyone's approval, there are the occasional situations where you might feel the need to please. Maybe you're meeting your boyfriend’s parents for the first time, or have been invited to your boss’ house for dinner. Either way, you want to impress and you want to do it easily.
To celebrate the release of the film, "The Help," we went about making every caramel cake recipe we could get our hands on, in order to find the best one.
Baking brings me so much joy! I love everything from brainstorming ideas to creating, the process itself, and the end result. Baking is a great way to immerse yourself in the moment- the smells, the taste, the sweet moments shared with excited little helpers when you are lucky to have them by your side! :)
My children’s godparents have a BBQ every Sunday in the summertime. One of the best things about BBQ season is Antoinette’s chocolate cake. Let’s be honest, every week I ask, “Is Antoinette going to be there?” If she is unable to attend the BBQ I ask, “Is the cake going to be there? Can she drop it off?!” If the cake is a missin’…so am I!
But the secret is out...
Spring is here! Tis the season for Blood Oranges. We love them because they are kind of risqué. After a refreshing taste in our recent Cosmo at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas (see Sugar Mommas Vegas Field Trip blog, coming soon) we were reminded how delicious and juicy they are. The name makes the oranges sound intriguing and peculiar.
I am not exaggerating when I say I have been trying to make homemade caramels for years. It has become a family joke that I either burn caramel during cooking, or somehow alter the recipe so that it turns out too hard or soft. All I have ever wanted was to produce a flawless caramel candy.
