There are days when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I find myself thinking, “Who is that person”? Then I suck in the areas I can, hold up the parts that need to be lifted and suddenly for a quick second I catch a glimpse of the old me.
So I managed to do my ankle in, which landed me in an Aircast and crutches. I know what you’re thinking and for the record, I was not walking and texting. In fact, I was attempting to walk and talk at the VERY same time and managed to go over on my ankle. It’s a good thing I wasn’t chewing gum or I may have ended up in a full body cast.
Peggy Fleming is one inspiring lady. Not only is she a three-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist in the sport of figure skating, she's also a busy mom and grandmother.
And since she's spent so much time on the ice, Peggy has dealt with her fair share of colds. She's recently partnered with Robitussin for their Simple Acts of Relief campaign, which is 100 days long and is designed to help cold sufferers get back their health.
We've all experienced it - the stuffy nose, sore throat, exhausted feeling that has you reaching for the thermometer.
There's nothing worse than getting bogged down with a bad cold, especially during the holiday season. So here are ten easy tips for fighting off winter colds:
1. Rest
Your body needs lots of it! That means instead of running all those errands, you get yourself in bed. You need to save your energy in order for your immune system to get rid of that cold.
2. Drink Plenty of Fluids
With flu season starting in October and peaking in January, my office will soon start filling up with parents and their children who are sick with a cold or the flu.
There are certain things you know to expect when having your first baby. You read the books to learn about being a mother; you talk to friends about their own experiences, and you prepare yourself as much as possible before the big day arrives.
Kristi Yamaguchi is an Olympic skating champion, the winner of "Dancing with the Stars: Season 6," a fitness expert and the mother of two young girls - so it's safe to say she's not the kind of person who stands on the sidelines.
Luckily, she's also channeling her energy to get involved with a great cause. Yamaguchi is working with the American Lung Association's Faces of Influenza campaign to raise awareness about the importance of getting vaccinated against the illness, especially for those over the age of 65.
Many people have back problems, or problems that stem from a weak back or poor posture. Here are some things to consider when thinking about back health.
During challenging physical conditions and situations, the body undergoes temperature changes. For instance, the body shows signs and symptoms that trigger the natural body defenses against dreaded diseases. Chills often predict the coming of a fever or an increase in body temperature. The body tries to generate heat when it feels cold through rapid contraction and relaxation that can cause chills. When fever manifests, the body's temperatures reaches one or two notches higher than 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit and may indicate an infection or illness.
When you have a fever, it generally indicates that your body is doing its job -- fighting an infection. Often, doctors do not recommend a fever-reducing medicine until the fever reaches 102 degrees Fahrenheit and higher. When it's time to administer a remedy, some doctors may opt for a homeopathic remedy that will work best for the type of fever that you have.
