Lately I have been hearing some of you outright trash your bodies during this miraculous state of being and it has infuriated me on many different levels. At five, four, or even as soon as three months pregnant, some of you describe yourselves as large, fat, obese or humongous, and one of you even referred to yourself as the size of a “Mac truck.”
A premature baby, or "preemie," is one born before 37 weeks of pregnancy, according to the March of Dimes. A normal term of pregnancy ranges from 37 to 42 weeks. As of 2010, about 12.8 percent of babies born in the United States are premature. Advances in obstetrics have enabled most premature babies to survive, but many suffer from long-term health consequences.
For women who cannot or do not want to carry and deliver their own children, surrogacy offers another option for having a baby. Many couples choose surrogacy because it can be faster than adoption and because surrogates can produce a biologically related child. Naturally, finding the right surrogate is just as an important decision as deciding to become parents. There are some important factors to consider before entering into a surrogacy agreement to make sure both parties clearly fulfill their obligations.
