Everyone knows breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A filling, healthy breakfast can start your morning off right and lead to less unhealthy meal choices throughout your day. Here are 7 easy and delicious breakfast options, all under 300 calories.
1. Peanut Butter and Banana Pancakes
Who doesn’t love pancakes? All you need for a healthy pancake breakfast: ½ medium banana, 2 tsp peanut butter, 1/3 cup pre-made whole-grain pancake batter, 1 tsp honey. Chop banana, peanut butter and add to batter. Drizzle honey on top to add some sweetness.
2. Greek Yogurt, Walnut and Blueberry Parfait
Blueberries are rich in heart-healthy antioxidants. Add them to greek yogurt and a handful of walnuts for a feel-good, energy-boosting breakfast.
3. Vanilla French Toast with Berries
Here’s what you need for healthy French toast (didn’t think it was possible, did you?): 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla extract, dash of cinnamon and nutmeg, 2 slices of whole grain bread and raspberries/blueberries. Whisk eggs, vanilla, and spices together. Dip bread into egg mixture. Spray skillet with cooking spray and saute bread on each side until brown (about 3 minutes). Serve with berries.
4. Scrambled Egg Burrito
Despite what you may believe, a burrito doesn’t have to be packed with calories. Scramble eggs with tomato, cilantro, low-fat cheddar cheese. Wrap in a fat-free tortilla and add chunky salsa or your favorite hot sauce for some added spice.
5. Breakfast Sandwich
For a healthy breakfast sandwich, spread low-fat cream cheese on a toasted whole wheat English muffin. Add sliced tomato on top. Easy, quick and delicious!
6. Broccoli and Feta Omelet
Skip the fatty bacon or ham and opt for broccoli and low-fat feta in your morning omelet. It’s both appetizing and health conscious.
7. Waffles with Cottage Cheese
Running late? This one takes hardly any prep at all. Toast a whole grain waffle and top with some cottage cheese for a quick breakfast on the go.
