Birthday Party Ideas for Boys

For all those little boys celebrating a birthday this summer…we have an awesome party idea to share with you!

For Greyson’s 1st Birthday, we decided to do an outdoor camping theme as he loves to be outside and his daddy loves to go fishing! You don’t need to live in the mountains or by a river to throw this party…you can bring the great outdoors right to very own backyard!

Fishing Hole

The first thing we did was create Greyson’s “fishing hole.” We bought a plastic pool from Target and filled it with a little bit of water. Then we found some bamboo poles at the hardware store and tied on some fishing line with magnets at the bottom to create weight.

We collected little plastic fish from Target and glued opposing magnets on to their belly. When the poles were cast in the water they connected to the nearest fish and voila…a prize catch of the day!!

Trail Mix Bar

A Trail Mix Bar is a great idea for creating a fun activity station as well as providing take-home favors for your guests! For us, Trail Mix is reminiscent of Summer Camp and being outdoors…and moms can feel good about providing a healthy snack option for their kids (the M&M’s are just for a little added color!).

The team over at Luna Bar sent us some yummy honey kids luna bars that were a great addition for a snack item as well!

BBQ Menu

What is camping without a traditional BBQ!! We wanted to keep it simple with the menu options so we provided hamburgers & hot dogs with all the yummy fixings and homemade potato salad on the side.

The desserts were a special treat and of course we wanted to stick with our camping theme, so we had our friend Meagan at Wine Country Confections create mini Bundt cakes! She really outdid herself with these delicious creations…Guests enjoyed a s’more flavored Bundt cake as well as a pancake batter Bundt cake with maple syrup butter cream and crispy bacon on top! She also provided Greyson’s Smash cake which was decorated with a tent and campfire.

Greyson is one lucky little boy and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to celebrate his first year of life with such a fantastic party! We hope you enjoy the incredible photos by Allyson Wiley Photography…she captured the spirit of the day perfectly, especially his cake demolition skills.

*A fun fact: Greyson’s mother works for LaTavola Linen Company and when LaTavola came out with their new 2012 linens, they named a few lines after him. It just so happens that the linens we chose for his party came from his very own namesake linen!
