Step 1
Gather your child's hair in a high ponytail and secure with an elastic band.
Step 2
Using a Topsy Tail, pull the end of the ponytail up through the crown of the head, in front of the elastic band. (Note: If you don't have a Topsy Tail on hand, follow these instructions to achieve the same result.)
Step 3
Spray the ponytail with a light misting of hair spray to prevent flyaways.
Step 4
Split the ponytail in two and braid each of the sections individually. Secure with an elastic band (clear ones look the best because they blend in with the hair).
Step 5
Gather the two braids at their ends and tie the tails together with another elastic.
Step 6
Secure the two braids (two sides of the heart) in place with a few bobby pins.
Step 7
Use a hair clip or a bow to provide a festive accent and cover up the elastic bands.
