Everyday Styles for Medium-Length Hair

Give your hair soft waves by braiding it before bed.

A shoulder- or medium-length haircut can be versatile. You can wear your hair down without it getting in the way or you can sweep it back into a braid or pony tail when you need to work without your hair getting into your eyes. Several hairstyles are great for medium-length hair, and they don't require too much effort or many styling products.

Tuck Long Front Layers or Bangs Away

If your hair is cut into a long angled bob or has long front layers, you can tuck the front section of your hair away using a barrette or bobby pin. Part your hair to either side if your face is round or square shaped. Center parts are risky, as they don't flatter many faces. Brush the larger portion hair behind the ear on the opposite side of the part. Secure the hair in place with bobby pin or simple metal clasp barrette. If you want to add a bit of sparkle and pizazz to your every day look, pick a sequined barrette or a barrette cut in a fun shape.

Go Half Way With Your Pony

Pony tails can look cute on medium-length hair, but they can also be boring. A simple variation on the every day pony tail is the half-up pony. Brush your hair back over your head. Grab the top portion of your hair and pull it into a pony tail, pulling it away from the lower portion. Secure the top portion with an elastic. If you have long wisps of hair that escape in the front, use bobby pins to keep them off your face. You can also leave the wisps hanging free to give your hair a more casual, relaxed look.

Carefree Waves

Getting wavy hair take less work than maintaining tight curls or stick-straight hair. Your hair may be naturally wavy, in which case, you need not do much to it to maintain an everyday style. After you wash your hair, add definition to your waves by applying a scrunch spray to the still-damp hair and pushing the bottom of your hair up to your scalp. Allow the hair to dry naturally. Do not use a hair dryer. If your hair is straight, you can get soft waves by braiding it each night before bed. In the morning, gently brush your hair out and spritz with a frizz-reducing spray.
