Four Great Ways to Give Back this Holiday Season

Thanksgiving is a time that we gather together to celebrate with those we love. And as we reflect on all that we are thankful for, it’s also a good time to consider those who are less fortunate. Here are four simple ways that you can get into the festive spirit by helping others:

Nautica’s Holiday “Well” Wishes Photo Project

Nautica has launched a new program called the Holiday “Well” Wishes Photo Project that lets families show off their favorite holiday styles while supporting a good cause. To take part, just upload a festive photo of your family wearing Nautica to the brand’s Facebook wall and share how you’re giving back this holiday season. And as part of the project, Nautica is donating $5,000 to Charity: Water – a non-profit that brings clean and safe drinking water to developing nations.

UNICEF’s “Gifts That Give Back”

Along with partners such as IKEA, Gucci and Disney by FEED, The U.S. Fund for UNICEF has created “Gifts that Give Back,” a lineup of holiday items that will benefit millions of children around the world. Shoppers can find everything from stuffed animals and children’s books to holiday ornaments and greeting cards. And best of all, a portion of each sale supports UNICEF programs. So whether you need an adorable tote bag for a trendy friend or a lovely card for a thoughtful neighbor, you’ll be hard-pressed to not find something for everyone on your list!

Radio Disney’s “Festival of Giving”

This December, Radio Disney is kicking off their first annual “Festival of Giving” campaign – designed to encourage kids to give back as well as inspire families to spend time together. On December 3 and 4, Radio Disney stations in cities across the country will be hosting events that bring together multiple charities in their local communities. By bringing a donation, families can attend these fun and free events. It’s win-win: music, prizes and entertainment plus the chance to learn more about the worthy causes in their area!

Shift My Gift

If you’re one of those people who says “I really don’t want any gifts” every year (and actually means it), consider signing up for Shift My Gift. It’s like a gift registry, but with nonprofit organizations. So instead of getting another bathrobe you won’t wear, loved ones can donate money in your name to the charity of your choice. With over 1.2 million charities in the website’s database, the only hard part will be which worthy cause to pick!
