How to Remove Perfume Smell
Perfume can cling to clothing,
A friend gives you an outfit, which you love, but it reeks of her perfume, and you can't get the aroma out. You may have been a little heavy handed the last time you sprayed yourself with your favorite scent. Whenever your clothing reeks of old perfume, it can give the perception that you either did not shower, or you are wearing soiled clothing. Fortunately, you can remove the perfume odor from clothing.
Step 1
Hang the garment outside in the sun. Sunshine and fresh air may be able to remove that heavy perfume smell. Check the weather before hanging the garment, so it does not get caught in a downpour. This is especially important for dry clean only garments.
Step 2
Mix 1 cup of white vinegar with 1 cup of water. Add it to the rinse cycle when you wash the garment. Wash the garment by itself to take maximum advantage of the vinegar solution.
Step 3
Fill a bucket with water, and add 1/8 cup baking soda. Mix the solution before adding clothing to guard against getting white residual on the garments. Swirl the clothing around in the solution and let it stay in the solution overnight. Wash the clothing the following morning using your usual washing method.
Step 4
Put clothing in dryer. Add several scented dryer sheets. Let them spin for about 15 minutes. Remove and hang outside for an hour longer.
Step 5
Take the garment to a dry cleaner who may be able to remove the odor with special chemicals.
