How to Wear One-Day Contact Lenses

Look for the 1-2-3.

If you have problems with allergies or eye infections, extended wear contacts may exacerbate the problem. One-day contact lenses solve these problems by offering the option to use a fresh contact lens every day, without having to worry about storing, soaking and disinfecting after each use. Wearing one-day contact lenses is the same as wearing ordinary lenses, except that you just throw them away afterward.

Step 1

Clean your hands with an oil-free soap and warm water, then pat your hands dry with a lint-free towel.

Step 2

Give your lens bag a few shakes.

Step 3

Lay the package on a clean table or countertop, and peel back the foil to open.

Step 4

Remove a contact lens from the package using your clean fingertips, and take a good look at the one-day lens to ensure that it is not inside out and is free of rips, tears or deformities.

Step 5

Place the lens on the tip of your pointer finger.

Step 6

Pull down the lower eyelid of one eye using your middle finger -- the finger next to the pointer that is holding the lens. At the same time, with the fingers of your other hand, raise your upper eyelid.

Step 7

Place your contact lens over the cornea (front) of your eye.

Step 8

Release your eyelid slowly, and blink several times to center your contact lens.

Step 9

Repeat Steps 1 to 8 to place a one-day contact in your other eye.
