Let's Craft: Paper Cones

Let's Craft is a special feature full of great crafts, inspiration and DIY projects that are perfect for any Modern Mom!

Summer is the season of pool parties, Fourth of July barbeques, family reunions, and an endless line of neighborhood children running through your house. You need simple party favors, gift ideas, and something the kids can do that will keep their active little butts in a chair for a few minutes.

This project comes from crafty mom Ianthe Morrow: "Today we're going to make paper cones. You can fill them with flowers, party favors, or candy, and they can hang on the door knob."

It's a fun and creative craft that's easy enough for kids to do - love!

Here's how to make paper cones:

Supplies

  • Paper (rectangular works best)
  • Stapler
  • Hole Punch
  • Ribbon (however long you like)
  • Filler (candy, flowers, etc.)

Directions

Roll paper into a cone. Make adjustments so it's just right. It should be open at one end and come to a point on the other end. Staple the bottom so your filling doesn't fall out.

Use the hole punch to put a hole on either side of the cone. Thread your ribbon through one hole, around the front, and through the other hole. Make sure the ends are the same length.

Tie the ends in a knot or a bow (your choice) so it forms a handle.

That's it! Now you have a cute paper cone to fill with goodies like candies, flowers and party favors!
