Modern Mom Celebrates Blogging Moms

What's better than moms sharing, giving, creating, connecting and coming together to support and inspire each other? Not much that we can think of! Modern Mom reached out to some incredible women in the mommy blogging community. We were amazed and honored at the response we received. We discovered some awesome blogs written by moms just like you. Today, we want to take the opportunity to feature some of our favorites. We think they all deserve some online exposure and attention, but here are our first picks. Some will make you laugh, give you great tips and advice, or just relate to hectic life as a mom. These mommy bloggers sure do it with style and have a lot to share. And we are loving it!

Fostering a Mom Community

As moms, we can all relate to each other in some way or another. As women, we can understand what other women are going through- our trials and tribulations speck to one another. We want moms to have a place to come and talk to other moms and hear what they have to say. We ooh and aah at pictures of each other's babies, kids and families whether we know them personally or not. It is all relatable and special no matter who you are. Tips to make our day easier or better? Ways to be more efficient? Eat healthier? Dress smarter? Be the best mom (and person) you can be no matter what life throws at you. Grab a cup of coffee, sit down for a couple minutes (or hours, as we did here at Modern Mom) and browse around on these amazing, fun and inspiring blogs.

Wendy Irene- The Trendsetter

Wendy started the group, "Moms with Blogs" on Modern Mom. The group is growing everyday. Feel free to join if you would like to share your blog! Wendy wrote a flattering blog post that we are so appreciative of. We are proud to have such cool members! We want to share the text of it here.

Ways to Give Love- Support

For a fun change of pace with the post for today on ways to give love I decided to do something different. Putting today’s post on ModernMom seemed fitting as they were my inspiration in writing it. It is my small way of giving love through support. When it comes to support, my favorite website is ModernMom. They not only support other Moms, they also encourage and listen to them. ModernMomencourages their members to contribute, come together and support each other. This makes ModernMom a truly special and unique place to be a part of. If you have a blog you can share it with others who might be interested in it, or you can start one there and share your experiences with others. It is a wonderful place to be a part of a loving, supportive community. Most sites would not allow or encourage this freedom, and I think they deserve much appreciation for the support they are giving. Life can be challenging, especially while raising children. Supporting one another, like what ModernMomdoes and encourages, makes life more spectacular. By the way, I have to say you definitely don’t have to be a Mom to enjoy this site. There is lots of great information on the site that I think all kinds of people would enjoy, male or female. It just has an emphasis on supporting Moms, and we all know how needed and valuable that support is. I first heard about ModernMom on one of my favorite shows The Doctors. It is a show that I try to record and fit into my day in one way or another as often as possible. In case you are wondering, yes I am behind the times and still use a VCR to record. Watching The Doctors makes me happy. Their genuine concern for helping and empowering others to take hold of their health, and live happy balanced lives, combined with the tremendous support an encouragement that ModernMom gives its readers is an incredible combination if you ask me! I can’t help but hope to see more of their work together in the future. If you can, please take a moment to check out ModernMom and my post there. You can find me in the community section in the group Moms with Blogs. I would love to hear from you, and please know you do not have to be a Mom with a Blog to join, it is open to everyone! There you can find information on other great blogs as well. Have a wonderful day, and thank you for your support! The link to Wendy's beautiful post is listed at the end of this article.

Accustomed Chaos

Accustomed Chaos is a small window into my beautifully chaotic life of a gluten free stay at home mom of 3 young children (aged 4, 3 &1). Myself and older daughter have Celiac Disease and I am always on the hunt for great gluten free recipes and products that will keep my daughter and I safe as well as satisfy my husband and sons palate who are forced to eat gluten free at home. I am passionate about all things baby. Advocate for breastfeeding and co-sleeping and I love products that make my life (and my children's lives) entertaining and fun. Accustomed Chaos shares both my love for parenting and gluten free through product reviews, recipes, book reviews and what ever else I come across. I started Accustomed Chaos in the summer of 2009 so that I could carve out something that is mine and for a way to escape the chaos for a few minutes a day. Although I am only able to sneak away for a few minutes each day or two it helps me appreciate the beautiful chaos I live in as a gluten free stay at home mom.

Amy's Tips to Share

I have been doing a family blog for a few years now and just recently started my ‘Amy’s Tips to Share’ Blog. I have been married for almost 10 years and have 4 great children. I worked outside of the home for many years and have been home with my children for the last two. I have learned many things in that time that have saved me time, money or just simply make my life easier. I started the blog to share those things that have helped me in hopes to help even just one person with each post. I try to post at least five times a week. The posts include anything from organizational ideas, kids activities, recipes, exercise, fashion, things I like, etc. I am not an expert nor a professional writer, I am just sharing things that have impacted or simplified my life. The blog has fulfilled a need that I have had inside " to help people in any way that I can. I believe that one or many of my posts will someday help you!

Babysmartees Blog

The Babysmartees blog is an effort to revitalize the importance of an infant stimulation program. Infant stimulation activities are not only beneficial to an infant's brain development, but they are pivotal in the development of the trusting, loving, relationship between baby and parent. This point seems to have gotten lost in the commercialization of black & white baby toys and mobiles. An infant stimulation program is also about relationship enhancement. The interaction is the thing! The relationship between the baby and parent is made stronger through an infant stimulation program. The Babysmartees blog explains a different stimulation activity every day as well as insights on what infant stimulation is as well as its benefits.

When I was 9 months pregnant with my 2nd son my husband and I moved farther away from friends and family. Make up has always been something I've been passionate about and I love sharing amazing products with other woman. It's my passion to help other moms feel beautiful and

Coachmona's Blog: Common Sense Health Tips for Common Sense People

What my blog is about is simple.....Common Sense Health Solutions. I am a Personal Empowerment and Health Coach. My Blog reflects my life's journey to heal my body and what I have learned along the way is that everyone's body functions and heals the same way....it is only the symptoms that are different...the way each person's body talks to him/herself. Our job is to listen to these symptoms to hear from the body what it wants/ doesn't want in it in order to function at it highest vibration or in other words with the utmost energy for each and every day of your life. Most people do not know where to turn with all the healing modalities and shelves and shelves of vitamins, herbs, remedies and supplements available these days. In my blog I post simple and clear information for people to do their own research on, to educate and show that there are very simple and clear solutions to many of today's Health problems and health related issues. With statistics these days like " for the first time in recorded history our mortality rate is going down, which means our children will live sicker and die younger than their parents" this means to me that people have to wake up and take charge of their own health. Learn to listen to their bodies, be bad patients and ask questions......make decisions based on what makes the most common sense. Every form of medicine, allopathic, naturopathic, homeopathic, energy medicine has its place.....however it is your body, learn about it listen to it and then from there decide which direction to go when the need arises.

Living Yoga

The Living Yoga blog is about connecting with others in the yoga community. I want to share how the practice of yoga, and the awareness that comes with it, inspires me to be better and to accept change and grow both on and off the yoga mat.

Muffintop Mama

Muffintop Mama is a blog about fitting it all in: fitness, nutrition, feeling good, and motherhood. As a busy mom who likes the idea of eventually obtaining a better figure, something closer to what I had before I had children, I know how tough squeezing it all in can be. (And here I am not just talking about the fat in my skinny jeans.) I have two toddlers now, ages one and two, and still struggle to make time for myself and make healthy decisions. Petite to begin with, I gained 70 pounds with my first baby, lost all but 15 pounds when I got pregnant with my second, and again, regained the weight with my second pregnancy, and now lost all but that last 15 pounds. Fitness and nutrition, for the most part, is always on the forefront, next to being a great mom. I know I am not alone in my quest. And I knew, after searching, that there weren't a lot of mommy fitness blogs. Many of them weren't updated regularly. Many of them didn't provide fitness news, up-to-date reviews, funny stories, and more. A journalist and newshound, I knew I could give moms something they needed: inspiration, information, and a good laugh. As a humor writer with a weekly newspaper column in the North County Times, a mid-sized paper in San Diego, I wanted to find the funny in weight loss and determination for my mommy comrades. I want to be the diet buddy they need, the one who tells them to check this out, look at this, look what I tried, look what she tried. Everyday I see growth: new readers, e-mails, new fans on Facebook, new followers on Twitter. A few weeks ago I launched "Hot Mama," a weekly feature that spotlights a mom who successfully juggles parenthood and fitness goals. I also just started a weekly newsletter to help motivate mommies every Monday: the day the diets are supposed to start. I am excited about Muffintop Mama and the potential to reach moms who are struggling.

My Life with Logan

I started "My Life With Logan" blog to journal my life, as a single mom, with my precious son, Logan. I am a very busy mom; I go to school full-time and I work full-time but I do my best to let my son know that he is number one and hopefully this shows in my blog. Another reason I chose to blog is because I don't have to time to scrapbook, which I love. Blogging is quick and inexpensive (free)! Blogging is a great way to help our friends, near and far away, keep up with our day-to-day (or monthly) activities.

My168Hours

My168Hours is about the 168 hours we all have each week, and how we can all use them better. Moms are already fantastic time managers; I like to talk about finding space not just for work and family but all the things that make life pleasurable--basically, how to have the life you want in the 168 hours you've got!

Our Family

My blog is about a first time mom/dad raising their child. The highs and the lows, and the funny in betweens. Its also a photo story to look back and see photos, and some day I hope that I am still blogging when my daughter is older so that she can read how much she means to me. My mom wrote in my baby book until I was 7 and i thought it was so cool to go back and read what she thought of me.

Pharmacy Serra Genoa: Welfare, health, design, innovation for children and much more ..

Our blog is really important because it is one place where we can exchange ideas with many moms. Mommyblogging in Italy is not as developped as it is in the USA . But in this blog and on Twitter http://twitter.com/farmaciaserrage we can exchange our experiences. We have a private pharmacy in Italy specialized in products for babies. We search for practicality and innovative design. We select items from across the world and decide if we should sell them in our store. We are really happy because our choice has made life easier for mothers. Many mothers with big ideas have made new businesses by opening factories. We help these women by providing business in Italy. The Internet allowed us to help make parent’s lives a little easier.

Reviewed by Mom

My blog is a relatively new blog (started about a month ago) but has been an idea I have been toying with for a couple of years. The basic concept of my blog is to share my experiences with products aimed at moms and their children. I have 3 children 3 and under so I have had my share of experiences (good, bad AND ugly) with all the bells and whistles you think you need to survive parenthood. Some items I have not been able to live without while some have actually made life more challenging! While I am no expert, I am hoping my reviews of products and services can help some other moms out there find some great products. I have been a stay-at-home mom since my twins were born 3 years ago and I love my job but I also don’t deny that it is a tough one! I enjoy sharing my experiences with others and always try to find the humor in my day-to-day life (hello little faces colored from ear to ear with markers!).

Spinning Plates

"Spinning Plates," is the Broadfootsteps of one autistic preschooler, his adoring sister, and the parents who are running to catch up. Our original goal with creating a website and starting a blog was to interact with other parents of autistic children, as well as doctors, therapists and other experts who could help us stay up-to-date on the latest treatment options, research, and creative thinking with regards autism. Since I've started blogging, we've certainly made a lot more friends in the autism community. But we've also reconnected with friends and even family with whom we'd lost touch, simply because of the constraints of TIME. We embrace all the support, suggestions, non-sequiturs " basically, I'm so starved for adult conversation on most days that I'd take a knock-knock joke from a complete stranger. That being said, I love my life. I've never been happier. And I guess one of the things I wanted to share with anyone who happened to stop by my blog is this: Autism isn't the end. It isn't a cause for mourning, and we aren't just a “family dealing with autism.” We're a family. We're happy, loving, and most days are filled with more laughter than anything else. We have joy, we have hope and it just keeps getting better and better.

Sweet Utopia Blog

I love to be able to express on a daily basis the most helpful and interesting tips in raising my kids. I raise my boys-who are 5 and 2- vegan, which means that they eat a plant-based diet. I love to share creative recipes and food ideas that are also natural, realistic and easy to make, as well as providing information on being healthy and living well, with less of an impact on the earth and its animals. It's a pleasure to be able to share my ideas and solutions with people in-depth. I'm the author of a book that is very meaningful to me called Sweet Utopia: Simply Stunning Vegan Desserts. Often, people who are interested in a vegan lifestyle (for health, environmental or ethical reasons) need help moving toward this healthier diet, feeding their families, and keeping healthy. I am glad that I am able to provide practical advice to them based on my many experiences both myself and as a mom of two. And I love to hear from people via Twitter and Facebook and comments on the blog, so that I can be sure I am addressing their questions and giving them the information they want. I'm always helping people that I meet in daily life, and it's great to be able to reach many more people (and more often) via the blog.

Teresa's Thoughts and Ideas

I started my activity of writing and blogging to promote my own healing. My soul, my faith, my health and my well being need healing. I am trying on a daily basis to begin fresh each morning. I write to focus my mind on a positive perspective. I reach everyday for knowledge peace and positive thought. I use the Daily Affirmation posted by the United Centers for Spiritual Living as a guide to positive thinking. Some times I share the Daily Affirmation and sometimes I omit it. The Blog is a very public tool to promote my self recovery and education from Chronic Depression. I also include my general thoughts on raising my children and how my position in their lives has evolved. Where I was and where I am now. I have started a second blog under my maiden name TA Meadows Short Stories. The new blog is a forum to display my fictional stories and promote myself as a fiction writer. I am currently working on a novel and I am seeking a public following to bring my art to print.

The Life and Times of the Millers

My blog is about love, happiness, and seeing the beauty in everyday life. It's about getting out and doing things, being active, and enjoying the gorgeous earth we live on. Having a baby doesn't mean that life has to stop. As a young new family on a tight budget, we invest in experiences rather than material things. Money isn't everything; family is. You can make do and live a full and happy life with less; we are living proof! As an amateur photographer, I love capturing my family through our experiences and moments in time and keeping an online journal for future generations.

Three Scobeys

In the beginning (circa three years ago) my blog was just a way for me to stay connected with family members who were far away without having to have the same “What did you do today?”/”I wrapped my husband in saran wrap” conversation with seven different people. It was a product of functionality. Also; blogging was getting bigger than the hair in Texas, so I jumped on board. Then, a year(ish) later I found myself on the receiving end of an unexpected pregnancy. Still far away from family and utterly overwhelmed, I turned to blogging as an outlet. It was (and is) a place that I am able to be me; unapologetically and shamelessly me. It was also a place where I found a community of other women who were right there with me, struggling… and that is priceless when you live in the era of the do-everything-and-don’t-need-spanx moms. My blog is about what the journey of motherhood is truly like, for me, no holds barred… because at the end of the day its our scars, as much as our badges, that make us good parents.

Weelicious

Weelicious is a website that offers fast, easy and fresh recipes for babies, toddlers, big kids and the entire family. Each week day there's an original recipe, picture and article and on Friday's a cooking show with me and my kids. Weelicious is all about empowering parents to cook healthy, nutritious meals and getting kids involved in the process by cooking too. For me, the recipes, tips and ideas on weelicious will inspire parents to cook more and see it as a pleasure rather then a chore. The goal is to get our kids eating healthy foods that they WANT to eat!

4 Out the Door

I launched 4 Out the Door in January 2010 and am rapidly falling in love with blogging. The mother of four girls (two of whom are identical twins), I began blogging as a way to address the mixed bag of emotions that followed my decision to leave my career and as a way to connect with other moms experiencing the same feelings and challenges. I use 4 Out the Door to share my thoughts and perspective on a smorgasbord of personal topics including marriage and my relationship to my mother to more humorous posts about my kids’ fashion decisions, Mad Libs for moms, movie and restaurant reviews and notes on the havoc caused by the family dogs. Nothing is off-limits.

10 Buck Dinners!

This is not just a typical food or recipe blog and I’m not a professional chef. I’m just a Mom, who likes to cook and loves finding a good deal. The whole basis of my site and blog is to show the average person that healthy, home cooked meals can be done for under $10. And not just an entree, but a full meal for a family of four! I'm also trying to get people to understand that fast food is NOT cheaper. That one can save money and their health by simply going back to basics and cooking simple, well balanced meals. $10 buck dinners are simple, fast and definitely much more healthy and cost effective than fast food. Period!
