Pregnancy Announcement Ideas

Pregnancy is one of the greatest joys in life. Announcing your pregnancy to your partner, family and friends should be a fun and memorable moment that will be treasured for a lifetime. Discover creative ideas on how to announce your pregnancy to your partner, grandparents and other family members and friends.

Colored Golf Balls

Does your partner play golf? If so, announce your pregnancy using colored golf balls. Buy a new pack of white golf balls. Soak the golf balls overnight in pink and blue food coloring. After they are dry, put them back into their container and slip it into your partner's golf bag for his next outing.

Special Delivery for Dad

Mail your partner a package including your pregnancy test, a copy of "The Expectant Father: Facts, Tips and Advice for Dads-to-Be," and a hand-written note from you telling him how excited you are that he's going to be a daddy.

It's on the Birthday Cake

If you want to announce your pregnancy during your partner's birthday, this is perfect idea. Serve up miniature things such as baby carrots with dip, tiny meatballs, little pickles and quarter sandwiches. Instead of traditional party balloons, order blue and pink balloons. And, in case he doesn't get the hint, serve a cake that reads "Happy Birthday Daddy."

Grandparents Day Surprise

Imagine how surprised your parents would be to receive a Happy Grandparents Day card in the mail, even if it wasn't grandparents day. If you don't have a grandparents day card, you can always make one on the computer or using crafts.

A Surprise Photo

Grandparents love receiving photos of their grandchildren. A special way to announce your pregnancy is to send an ultrasound picture with a copy of the book, "Chicken Soup for the Grandparent's Soul." Make sure that you highlight the date and name on the ultrasound photo.

Brag Books

Buy a cute grandparent's brag or photo book, or make one if you're crafty. Wrap it up in pink or blue wrapping paper and give it as a surprise gift. If you'd rather be discreet about the gift, wrap it with patterned wrapping paper or place it in a gift bag. You can put a picture of the ultrasound on the cover with a note saying the first photo is included.

A Picture Puzzle

Make a series of posters to announce your pregnancy. Write one word of your sentence on each poster. Take a picture of each of your posters separately, and email one photo a day to your family and friends until they figure it out.

Belly-Cast Fun

Create a belly cast using the mold from a large balloon. Slip it underneath your clothes for an afternoon outing. If someone asks, tell them that you are sporting your soon-to-be new look.

Don't Forget the Peppermints

Buy a bag of peppermints and mail a few to your friends with a card. On the inside of the card, write a note telling them to keep these handy when they come to see you. Let them know that your nausea will most likely subside in a few weeks.
