Talk about unforgettable! The Friends of Scott Foundation is doing something awesome for some very ill teenagers in San Diego, CA on March 4th, 2011.
Kids who’ve been diagnosed with cancer at Rady Children’s Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Diego will be treated to a fun-filled evening where they can forget about their disease and dance the night away. They’ll be given the movie star treatment–red carpet and limousine included!–during a very special prom night at the San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.
For many of these teens, prom has never been a possibility due to their illnesses. But the Friends of Scott Foundation started making it a reality for them five years ago, when they recruited San Diego businesses and communities to create a one-of-a-kind prom experience for these deserving kids.
Drew Brees’s The Brees Dream Foundation donated all the limo rides, Xtreme Fun is setting up the DJ and music, and several food vendors are contributing to the delicious food that will be offered to all. Friars Tux is lending all the young men some great tuxedos, and prom dresses have been donated to the ladies by the generous women of San Diego.
The Friends of Scott Foundation was founded by Carmen and Henry Delgadillo in memory of their son Scott, who died from leukemia at the age of 14. The foundation helps families cope with this devastating disease by providing educational, financial and emotional support. After serving 80 families in their first year, they now help 80 families a week and counting!
