Four-time world surfing champion Stephanie Gilmore allegedly was attacked with an iron pole during a home invasion in Tweed Heads Sunday night.
Police have confirmed that a 22-year-old woman was assaulted butg are not confirming that the surfer was the victim.
According to the Gold Coast Bulletin, several sources stated that Gilmore was allegedly struck by a metal pole twice before her attacker fled from the scene.
She allegedly suffered a wound on the back of her head, a fractured wrist and cuts to her hand and was treated at Tweed Heads Hospital.
The alleged attacker was taken to the police station and charged with several offense and was refused bail according to the police.Gilmore made history 2 weeks ago when she won a third straight triple crown in Hawaii.
