It’s times when my 5-year-old daughter acts like a wise old granny that reminds me of the reality that sensitivity and awareness are present in people of many ages, and absent in others.
Rain had a breakdown or normal 5-year-old tantrum before school yesterday. She never has them, but I expect them and know she’s supposed to act her age sometimes, not the Dali Lama she poses to be.
I finally got a day off, David drove all the girls to school today, I took Shaya and now I’m using my free time to get super organized. In my dreams, I’m curled up in bed reading a book, but there is so much to do. Good thing I carved out an hour for myself after I dropped Shaya off to work out…that truly makes everything else tolerable.
I finally synced up all my school calendars to my iCal system, which alerts me on my phone. What a lifesaver and great way to make sure I don't miss any important school events!
What a whirlwind of a week! I survived the Emmys, my co-host Tom Bergeron took home a win, and we kicked off Season 15 of Dancing With The Stars, All Stars.
We’ve already said goodbye to one star, injuries are taking a toll in the ballroom and the competition is fiercer than ever!
I have to share my kindergarten transition experience with you because I know so many moms are going through it. It’s a new experience for many families, scary for the kids and a bit overwhelming. I actually forgot how difficult it could be.
Today is a day for soul searching for many. I hope it transcends even to those who aren't religious. My family fasts and spends the day thinking of blessings, regrets and connections.
I read this prayer in temple and I want to share it with you.
Jewish or not, I wish you a meaningful day.
Happy holiday.

It's Emmy Sunday, 8 a.m., I’m sitting outside enjoying a cup of coffee, reading a fashion magazine and listening to my children’s laughter as they run through the sprinklers.
After a second visit to the ENT to figure out why I've been sounding like an old sexy smoker, it turns out I have a little nodule on my vocal cords, so my voice has been really hoarse and strained lately.
My doctor told me no more caffeine, no more wine, and no more chocolate. Since I always have a morning cup of coffee, usually stop by Starbys in the afternoon, and drink green tea throughout the entire day - this is going to be really challenging!
My prayers go out to all of those who lost loved ones and suffered on this tragic day. It was a close call for many. Here is my family's story.
The chaos of juggling kids is nothing new, but getting them back in the groove of school is beyond hectic!
Whether you are a working or a stay-at-home mom, juggling our families to get everybody out the door on time and picked up on time isn’t easy. In my case, it's manic.
Getting kids to eat a healthy meal, or in many cases, to eat at all can be tricky.
When it comes to satisfying the many different tastes each of my children have, I need to be healthy, conscious and creative.
