Meet Pokey.
Here he is when he was only a few weeks old. My babysitter got him with Rain after she conned me into a reward for sleeping in her own bed. If you’ve been reading my posts, you know that was a huge scam. I’m the sucker. Still fighting through sleepless nights and now I’ve added another responsibility to my brood.
Why am I the greatest butt wiper in the house?!? Is there something special about my particular touch, or skill if you will? Because I swear my husband and my nanny as well as my older girls do a fine job, LOL. But no matter where I am in the house, regardless of what I am doing, my little ones scream only “MOOOO
The intense 7 day cleanse that I'm doing is not for everyone. So here's a simple way to kick start your healthy eating plan and shock your body. There is only one simple rule - the food must be GREEN. (No green M&M's though!)
I did this last year and the ModernMom community joined me and it was great supporting each other. So, join me if you dare!
Here's a list of green foods:
It’s Day 3 of my cleanse… my least favorite part is feeding the kids their usual garb and when Rain rolls in with a scrumptious double chocolate vanilla swirl soft serve ice cream cone.
Gregory Joujon-Roche (@Gregmytrainer) and I have been communicating, tweeting, supporting and complaining to each other. It’s so helpful to go though something like this with a partner - or in this case, an expert and his wife. I am hoping to get through today with as much strength as yesterday.
I survived Day 1 and today is a new day, new challenge, and a new opportunity to conquer. I feel pretty good for the most part.
It’s Monday night; my kids are asleep on their transition mattress below me. They have been sleeping through the night for the past week, which is a monumental time for all of us. So are the daily toy purchases I am happily making for rewards. Trust me, after what we have been through in the musical bed department, I’ll do whatever it takes.
David is out at the Laker game and I am enjoying the peace and quiet in bed, candles lit, face mask on, bleaching trays in, and 20 pages of cleanse literature before me.
So it’s official, my daughter is totally and completely grown up now that she has turned 5!!!
This weekend we celebrated Rain’s birthday with friends and family at our local dance studio. I have to say that Justin Bieber and cupcakes are the way to every little girl’s heart!
This morning, David had to play Super Dad and rally all four kids on his own. I snuck out at 5:30 AM, while the house slept, to do early TV press for my fitness DVDs. It’s hours like those when I both dread and ponder their success.
This past year wasn’t one that I was anxious to see end. 2011 was an extraordinary period in my life:

I said goodbye to my thirties and warmly embraced the big 40.
I just finished another double workout and strangely the person that inspired me was my general physician. I had a three-hour physical the other day and feel pretty great about taking responsibility for my own body and making sure everything is in order. While I was there, we talked a lot about the benefits of fitness. He shared a medical study that says Americans gain approximately 7 lbs. between Thanksgiving and New Years. They only drop 4 lbs. of the weight during the year.
