Hi! Iʼm Jenifer Porter, interior designer and owner of boutique interior design company Chic Living LA. Iʼm happy to be posting my first Modern Mom blog!
Itʼs summer time, and you know what that means... itʼs time for family vacations! I love taking my family to different exotic locations all over the world. We recently went to Cabo San Lucas, where we stayed in the beautiful Capella Pedregal resort. Being an interior designer, it was amazing to stay in such an incredibly designed place. I knew it would be gorgeous, as Oprah Winfrey raved about this place, but I didnʼt expect to leave feeling so inspired by the Spanish and Mediterranean style decor.
Iʼve always enjoyed sharing my unique finds from all over the world with my clients, and Iʼd like to share how Iʼd evoke the unique spirit south of the border in your home.
The private lounges of the resort are incredibly relaxing. I loved this contemporary wicker lounger that reminded me of the one I had found for a client. When you add custom cushions with my favorite Sunbrella fabric, theyʼre perfect.
The chandeliers are definitely the focal point for me in this room. They make the room itself feel luxurious and add a certain Mexican spice to the room. In anyones home, I think the chandelier pictured above would be stunning.
If you look closely on the bed, youʼll see a favorite accent I love using in homes. The use of Ikat inspired patterns and pillows are a great way to add color and personality to a bed. My favorite comes from Madeline Weinrib.
The armchairs are another favorite of mine. I just custom made armchairs for another client of mine from Lee Industries and the product turned out amazing. I like that the one above looks loungy, beachy, and comfortable, but has a contemporary edge.
This was one of my favorite amenities of the resort. I enjoyed relaxing with my daughters in Capellas women's relaxation room often. If you look towards the left of the photo, youʼll see a Mexican inspired pot. Pots are one of my favorite ways to accessorize a room, with or without a flower arrangement, or big or small. Youʼll again notice the use of patterned pillows, and a bold, yet relaxing, red color accents. I love this!
Take a look at some other Mediteranian and Spanish inspired looks that I love.
The photo on the right incorporates some of my favorite colorful elements that are native to Mexico. The colorful prints and interesting wall decor make this room. To the left, youʼll see a picture of my one of my favorite Moroccan style benches that Iʼve sold to a few clients of mine. Its wonderfully intricate and available!
The Capella Pedregal is a resort I wonʼt soon forget. Whatʼs your favorite resort youʼve been to lately?
