Well the holidays are very quickly approaching and that can mean stress and overwhelm. I love this time of year, but it is also a bit stressful and chaotic. How would it feel to get through the holidays and look forward to a mini getaway with a friend or spouse to chill and rejuvenate? Sounds heavenly, does it? I am so excited to be hosting one of my Mom TV web shows LIVE from Keystone resort in the gorgeous Colorado mountains, where I will be giving away a fantastic prize!
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it is the perfect time to start focusing on all of your blessings. I am a big believer in the power of gratitude and how it can positively impact your life in many ways. With everything going on around the world, it is very easy to focus on fear and what is lacking in your life. These beliefs will then act as dominos and bring about more fear and worry. There have been numerous studies on gratitude and happiness.
Even though it's only October, I know how busy this time of year is and how quickly the holidays roll around!
I am so excited to fly to Maui in September for my 15th wedding Anniversary. My husband and I vacationed in Hawaii for our honeymoon and vowed to return someday soon. Of course 15 years later, and 2 kids and crazy lives later, we are finally going back. Like most parents, it is hard to get away when you have kids and careers that need you back home. I believe wholeheartedly that is is crucial to get away as a couple to rejuvenate your marriage and keep the spark alive.
School is right around the corner and it is possible to ease the transition for
How many of you like change? You enjoy the process of transformation and change? How many of you avoid change at all cost? The thought of change in your life frightens you? I am not necessarily someone who seeks out change, however when change is brought into my life, I have a peace knowing there is a reason for it.
I want to start by wishing everyone a very Happy 4th of July! Hopefully everyone had a wonderful weekend with friends or family. I also want to apologize for being absent from the Monday Morning Tips for the past month. I literally have been out of town most of June and so some things had to get pushed aside. I spent some time at Devil's Thumb Ranch in gorgeous Granby,Colorado. I then spent a week in Breckenridge for a family reunion. And lastly, I hosted a retreat at C Lazy U Ranch up in the Colorado Mountains. For me, the mountains are my spiritual retreat.
In honor of Mother's Day I wanted to dedicate this week's tip to my own Mother. As many of you know, she passed away from Lou Gehrig's disease at the very young age of fifty-six. She was truly an inspiration to so many people, and I could honestly write book after book offering her words of wisdom and advice. No matter what struggles she faced, from breast cancer to ovarian cancer, she always lived her life with passion and joy. Motherhood is such a selfless and committed act of love and strength, and this week I hope you can acknowledge yourself or someone you know.
Every Sunday morning my family does our weekly deep cleaning. It is a time to clean up and organize for the week. We were sitting at breakfast when I reminded my kids that after breakfast it was time to organize their rooms, play some music, and have fun while they cleaned up a bit. My son remarked that Sundays were "lazy days", not clean up days.
More and more it seems like raising your happiness is a long term ambition.
